Created in 1960 by the late Timo Sarpaneva (1926 -1986) who was inspired by his blacksmith grandfather and crafted by Iittala in Finland from cast iron, with a teak handle and white enameled interior.
The detachable teak handle allows you to lift or remove the lid and then carry the pot to the table.
The Sarpaneva pot became such an icon it was immotalised on a postage stamp celebrating the Finnish design elite and is still held in the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
Suitable for gas, electric, glass ceramic, and induction stoves.
Can also be used in the oven.
