Manufactured by Acme.
In Acme’s words, ‘this is a very special project that happened all by itself’.
Over the course of a New York meeting between Acme and the Vignellis concerning a different project, Phase 3 went from a vague idea to having two designers on board and a pen shape, concept, packaging and branding all agreed.
Vignelli then called down Richard Meier from his office in the same building, who immediately agreed to contribute a design, which was submitted within days.
In total, five recognised and revered designers form the Phase 3 project, each offering a unique finish to the blank canvas sketched by Vignelli, each taking the project in a different direction, continuing the feeling that the project had ‘a life all its own’.
Each design features a laser engraved clip and end-cap, and is housed in an individual presentation case.
