Karim Rashid is a leading figure in the fields of product, furniture and interior design. His perspective and clients are global and he considers himself a cultural shaper with projects ranging from products, interiors, fashion, furniture, lighting, to art and music. His clients include Umbra, Nambe, Magis, Prada, Mikasa, Target, Issey Miyake, Copco and Alessi, among others .
He has won numerous awards and his work is in the permanent collection of 14 Museums including MoMA and SFMoMA . He edited the International Design Yearbook 18 (2003) for Calmann and King and released two CD's available on Seattle boutique label, Neverstop.
The Symbolic range is based on iconic shapes that Rasid developed over 20 years. It comprises a system of meaningful colours and ikons that speak about his interpretation of and love for the digital age. Rashid has always been a fan of the artisanal work of Bitossi with designers through Londi to Sottsass and with Symbolic continues the philosophy of pushing the boundaries of small run, high impact hand made ceramic creation.
